Creating from YouTube
Good Day everyone! I know it has been a hot minute...or three since last time I jumped on here and chatted with y'all. Here's the thing. I don't feel the need to clog up the airwaves with jibber jabber, you know. I am a BUSY woman.
Just a general safety warning before starting this post: Please do not use acrylic yarn for any potholder, trivet, heat bearing item, as it can melt and cause severe burns. I have read and read on this subject matter and the number one suggested material for heat bearing items is cotton, followed by wool. Again, never, Never, NEVER use acrylic as it is in fact super dangerous to do.
N-E-Way, I have an amazing friend that lives 3000 miles away from me. She is always sending me links to awesome things for me to try making. The other day, she sent me a link for a gorgeous trivet...pot holder...no, trivet. You can check it out here: https://youtu.be/ayeOsZIGU2w
I am not great at watching a YouTube tutorial and crocheting. So, I always pop on to the comments and grab the pattern. This tutorial, however, was in a foreign language and didn't have a written pattern. So, I did what I do, and I wrote out the pattern. I then had to make one so that I could write up this blog post. And, it worked out beautifully. As mentioned before, THIS IS NOT MY PATTERN. The original pattern belongs to the lovely lady that created the YouTube tutorial. However, for those of you like myself that CANNOT do the YouTube thing, here you go: Directions:
First Ring:
1) Chain 33 with color 1. Make a loop by slip stitching into back loop of the first chain made.
2) Chain 1. Back loop single crochet in same chain and next 32 chains.
3) Chain 2. Double crochet in same stitch, counts as first double crochet two together. (ch 1, dc2tog in next stitch) x 32. Chain 1, slip stitch in top of first double crochet two together.
4) Chain 2. Double crochet around starting double crochet two together, counts as first front post double crochet two together. (ch 1, fpdc2tog around dc2tog) x 32. Chain 1, slip stitch in top of first fpdc2tog.
5) Chain 1. Single crochet in same stitch. (sc in ch1 sp, sc in fpdc2tog) x 32 single crochet in last chain one space. Join with slip stitch in first sc. Fasten off, weave in ends.

Third Ring:
1) Chain 33 with color 3. Slide chain through second ring with hook on top. Join to form a ring with a slip stitch in the back loop of the first chain.
Continue this way until you have 8 joined rings.

5) Chain 1. Single crochet in same stitch. (sc in ch1 sp, sc in fpdc2tog) x 32 single crochet in last chain one space. Join with slip stitch in first sc. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Join in outer edge of any ring with color of choice. Chain 1, single crochet in same stitch. Single crochet in next 15 stitches.
16 single crochet in next ring to connect outsides of the rings.
Repeat in next 7 rings. Slip stitch in first single crochet. Fasten off, weave in ends.
With a length of yarn, count 25 stitches in from top right single crochet of any ring. Pull yarn from front to back, repeating in each of the 9 rings. (I guess I forgot to take a picture of this part.)
Pull yarn tight to close center of ring over itself. Fasten off ends. Enjoy trivet!
I wouldn't use this as a potholder since it has a lot of open space that the could allow burns to occur. It should however work swimmingly for holding a hot pan on a counter top or table.
