Jack O' Placemats Pattern
I wanted really cool Jack O' Lantern placemats for my Falloween decor. I couldn't find any patterns that would work for what I wanted. Sooooo, being the crafty witch that I am, I created this pattern. If you make it, please let me know how it turns out.
This placemat is the perfect placemat for Autumn.
I would say that this is a confident beginner level pattern.
This pattern is worked in back and forth rows, then finished with a border in the round. If you would like it to be bigger, you can use thicker yarn, a bigger hook, or increase the number of border rounds.
Materials:
Hobbii Cotton 8/4 Soft Prints (208) Juicy Orange 33 grams per placemat.
Hook 3.5 mm

Now we will be doing the border. The border will basically consist of completing treble crochet 2 togethers across.
B1: Slip stitch into the second double crochet. Chain 3, counts as a partial treble crochet. Skip next 2 double crochet. Partial treble in next stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, chain 2, *(Partial treble in same stitch, skip next 2 double crochet, partial treble in next double crochet, yarn over and pull through 3 loops on hook to complete the treble crochet 2 together. Chain 2) to corner double crochet. Chain 2 more (4 chains total) Partial treble in the same stitch, skip the corner, rotate the mat, and partial treble on the side of the placemat, yarn over and pull through 3 loops, chain 4. Repeat from * around. There should be 10 sets of stitches on the sides and the top and bottom should have the same number of stitches. Slip stitch in to the top of the first stitch.
B2: Chain 3. Counts as first treble crochet. *(Chain 2, partial treble in the same stitch, partial treble in the next treble 2 together, yarn over and pull through 3 loops on hook) to last treble 2 together before corner. Chain 2, partial treble in the same stitch, partial double treble in the corner stitch, yarn over and pull through 3 loops on hook. Chain 2, treble, chain 2 double treble, chain 2, treble, chain 2 partial double treble in corner stitch. Partial treble in nest treble 2 together, yarn over and pull through 3 loops on hook. Repeat around eade. Join with a slip stitch in the top of the chain 4. Fasten off and weave in end.
